Neurohub software released

The Neurohub team announce the first release of the Neurohub software to participating laboratories...

Neurohub logoNeurohub is a JISC funded project which is developing an information environment for Neuroscientists.  Funded until May 2012, participating sites in the project are Oxford, Southampton and Reading.

Having completed prototype work earlier this year, the project team has completed development work for the initial release of the Neurohub node software.  This release is being deployed in the neuroscience laboratories within the participating institutions.

The Neurohub node merges two main components: Blog3 from Jeremy Frey's group and a WebDAV component implemented by the Neurohub team.  The
Blog3 component allows users to maintain electronic log books to record research activities and experimental work.  Importantly data files can be attached and managed within the Blog3 web application.  The WebDAV component allows users of the system to mount the Neurohub node as a network file system.  Users can use drag and drop files or use other standard file system management mechanisms to upload and access data that is managed by the Neurohub node.

With the first release deployed in participating neuroscience laboratories, the Neurohub development activity is now entering a phase where user feedback about the live Neurohub system will guide development efforts with comments, criticisms and suggestions feeding into the pipeline of work that the development team undertake.
