European Research Council Advanced Investigator Grant awarded to 'Landscape and Identities' project

Prof. Chris Gosden (Prof. of European Archaeology, School of Archaeology, Oxford University), with Dr Zena Kamash, has just been awarded a 2 million euro European Research Council Advanced Investigator Grant for a project on: 'Landscape and Identities: the case of the English Landscape 1500 BC- AD1086'. The pilot project, trialling the technologies that will make this ambitious project viable, was achieved through the generosity of the Oxford e-Research Centre and the e-Research South Consortium. The ERC grant will enable the continuation of this fruitful collaboration.

e-Science paper wins Lloyds Prize on Science of Risk.

Dr Simon Gosling of Reading University won the Climate change category Lloyds prize for his AHM09 paper on changing global water resources which was supported by the eRSouth project "Water Resource modelling on Grids". More details here.
